Q: What happens if I need my money before the CD matures?

A: Although you can access your funds before the CD matures, there's a penalty for early withdrawal.

Q: What happens when my CD matures?

A: CD accounts are set to automatically renew at maturity. However, you'll have a grace period of 10 calendar days during which time you can make a deposit, withdrawal, change the term or close your CD.

1. APY (annual percentage yield) is accurate as of March 7, 2024. A penalty may be imposed for early withdrawal of principal. Any early withdrawal of principal or interest will reduce earnings. The minimum deposit to open the 11-Month CD is $5,000. Fees may reduce earnings on the account.

2. This 11-Month CD must be opened online, in the name of an individual(s) who resides in a state in which there is a First Citizens Bank branch. It's not available for trusts, businesses, or other entities. Public funds are also ineligible. The account may not be opened as an Individual Retirement Account.

The account must be funded with new money, meaning funds not on deposit or held at First Citizens Bank at the time of account opening. Funds withdrawn from First Citizens Bank within 90 days of account opening are ineligible. Public funds are ineligible.
